Search box doesn't work

I simply downloaded and ran the examples both on my local xampp and my remote linux based host.

Search box isn't working. Any value entered removes all the rows as if it can't find the value.

I also tried the different examples for column based filtering , and the result is the same.

Any idea how to solve this? it works fine only on the site http://www.datatables.net
