Numerical sorting with comma separators

Hello,

Seems like a noob problem, but I can't find any answers in the forum or documentation --
I have a table where some of the columns are numerical with commas for thousand separators. Example:

222
1,000
44,024
6,222
22
5,000
1,444,496

Trying to use numerical sorting on these values but I can't get it to work. If I remove the commas, everything sorts just fine. Any tips?

You can use the formatted numbers plug-in to deal with this: http://datatables.net/plug-ins/sorting#formatted_numbers
