Using AjaxSource AND Elements in the table

So I've got the datatable working beautifully with the AjaxSource.

I now want to Add a column with a star ranking. Is this possible? I see there's a sample with a checkbox:

But all the rows are hardcoded. Is there any way to use that WITH an ajaxSource?

oops.. I figured it out.. passing it through Json.. I was using double quotes instead of single ones..
