I just upgraded to 1.10.1 and now I'm getting the subject message. How to fix?

The answer to my own question is to use the new version of the plugin here: https://next.datatables.net/plug-ins/api/fnReloadAjax

If you are creating a new project I'd suggest using the built in ajax.reload() method now.
