Specify column type on Excel output/leading zeros being removed

Is it possible to specify the column type (i.e. Text, General, Number) when exporting to Excel or CSV? I have a column of numbers and the leading zeros are being removed. If there is not way to specify the column type does Table Tools come with a means of dealing with this problem?
