I want the Processing sign to show up in the header but it doesn't. Why not?

I'm using datatables v1.10.4 and would like to show the processing sign in the header but instead it shows up in the center of the table. The problem with it being in the middle of the table is that if the table is very long, the user will never know that the processing is occurring because the processing display will not be visible on the page. This is why it's preferred in the header.

I've put in the datatables init like this:

"dom": '<"H"rfip>t'

From what I've been reading in the datatables documentation, that should put the processing display element in the header before the filtering, table information summary and pagination.

Anyone know what I can do or if I'm doing something wrong?
