Search in column which is not displayed?

is it possible to search within a column of the table displayed with datatables, where the column I want to search in is not printed out?

Ok solved, it is possible by displaying the column by default and then hiding it with the api

You shouldn't need to hide it with the API - the columns.visible option should be enough on initialisation. The searchablity of a column is controlled by columns.searchable.
