ASP.net code behind WebMethod.. as datasource

Hi,
I can run an AJAX query to a webmethod inside my aspx.cs and get information back but am having a problem.

Tried to use a string object and then parse it as json but not really getting anywhere.

Could I use a DataTable returned as a Table for the input?
