Child rows jumpy in IE9

I've got child rows for extra info working quite nicely based on this example:

But I find it's jumpy in Internet Explorer 9. When you click to expand, the first and last table cells get wider. This pushes the content in, giving the impression of a jump.

Andy ideas on what could be causing this?
