Which license I need to legally use datatables in a Open Source project?

sergisergi Posts: 2Questions: 1Answers: 0

Hello,

I've been already using datatables in a personal Open Source project:

https://github.com/acacha/ebre-escool

Nowadays only 1 developer (me) is working actively in ebre_escool project. After reading about editor licenses at purchase page I have doubts about which license I have to use because obviously other developer could use my code published at gihub.

Please I will thank you if you could recommend/explain to me which license I need.

Thanks

    Hi Sergi,

Thanks for getting in touch. Editor is a commercial product and the income from it allows the rest of the DataTables suite of software to remain open source and be fully maintained.

Editor is not open source and it cannot be distributed as such (i.e. it cannot be included in an open source project since that would lead to free distribution).

I'm afraid that in this case Editor is not suitable for your project at this time.

    Regards,
    Allan

    Hi Allan,

Thanks for your response. Ok I now understand! I prefer to ask before buying and adding to the project to be sure. I will make a try to editor anyway when I can maybe in future I could need it!

Ebre-escool app use a lot datatables an awesome lib! Good job! I'm a teacher and always recommend datatables to my students. Moreover I have created an article in mi wiki (in catalan):
