No initial sorting Need to make a search in my dataTable to enable sorting and pagination

When I initialize my dataTable it appears without pagination and I cannot sort my columns.
However when I make a search with the search tool provided by the gem it instantly enable pagination (that appears on my webpage) and I can then click on my colmuns and sort them.
Why do these options do not appear initially ?
