I'm using version 1.10.7 and I am planning to upgrade jquery to 2.1.4. Is it compatible? If not, can you give a compatible version that's 1.9+ ? Thanks.

Yes it is. jQuery 1.7+ is supported.

edit This is noted on the compatibility page. Also, I would always suggest using the latest version of DataTables 1.10.10 is the latest version.
There was a bug in earlier in the 1.10 series which caused issues with the very latest jQuery versions. I can't recall if it was fixed for 1.10.7 (I think so), but I would suggest using the latest release.
