Scrollable Footer

I really like DataTables' ability to place the tfoot below a vertically scrolling section. However, my client does not like the footer locked below the scrolling rows. Instead they want the footer rows to be below the standard rows and only viewable via scrolling. I can mimic the look of footer rows, but intermingling them causes sorting issues. Is there any basic way to achieve this with DT? Thanks.
