Rows shown doesn't match iDisplayLength

I'm loading data from a JSON source. I have iDisplayLength set to 10. My data table is being processed normally (so I assume the JSON file is being parsed successfully) except that only 9 entries are being returned. If I click the pagination links, the refreshed view starts with the 11th entry. I'm not able to view the 10th entry.

Any ideas why the number of entries displayed doesn't match my iDisplayLength setting?
