Reinitialize datatable after content is reloaded through ajax

I have datatables working on a page, but that page is part of a larger ajax response page and when the portion of the page with the datatable is reloaded I can't get the datatables to reinitialize on the refreshed content table.

Please provide any help possible, and note that this is not using the datatable ajax content, but the content that datatables is applied to is part of a larger content area that is loaded through an ajax update.
