adding another textfield as filter?

Hi,

I want to add another textfield somewhere in the same area as where the current filter textfield is. But this new textfield should only filter on a certain column (a column with dates). But i'm not sure how to add a custom textfield with custom filter functionality.

Could someone please tell me how to do that?
