Filtering with both input and select

I would like to use a mixture of input and select in my datatable. But only one type per column. I've attempted to do this, but as soon as I add the select filter to a datatable that already has input filtering all filtering stops working.

Also on a related note I found that if I do not create an input in each of my columns it will actually cause the filtering to happen on the previous column.

Hmm. Either the answer is too obvious or I've stumped some people. I did find another posting on the same topic from february and that did not have any responses either. Have I found a limitation?
