Refesh select values with individual column filtering

Has anyone expanded on the code for the "individual column filtering example (using select menus)" by adding functionality to update the values in the select form elements so they only show values that are in the filtered table? For example, it would be nice if when one select drop-down is chosen, the remaining select drop-downs only have values that are in the resulted filtered table. Is there any way to call the fnGetColumnData each time a select element is choosen, so it only returns values from the in-memory table, not the entire table?
