Editor ssp and DB2 pysical files

I have a physical file with field names containing special characters (#) in the data fields and key fields. The ssp script fails when attempting to update data in these fields. I have used a test file where the field names do not have special characters and it works fine. I am not in a position to change the field names in the production files - is there a way to use an alias name for the data field names and the key field names?

There shouldn't be a problem, '#' aren't special. You say the script fails, in what way? Are you seeing errors when the lines are being extracted?
