Is anybody good at colors? I'm horrible at color and UI design. I want to use the UI Themeroller "start" set, and want to set up some good colors for odd and even rows and for sorting_1, sorting_2, and sorting_3 columns to match.

can anyone suggest some good color combinations? or even some pointers on color mixing (i.e. sorting_1, 2, and 3 are often similar, just more faded as the number gets higher. so if I have a good starting color, how do you efficiently find a lighter version of the color?)

thanks

Looking forward to enough 'modern browser' uptake that you can just set one value with alpha transparency and then the underlying stripes will just automatically be the right colour. :-)

I like using Adobe's Kuler for colour inspiration: http://kuler.adobe.com

Colour Schemer and the online version of it are very useful as well: http://www.colorschemer.com/
