Column reordering state save not working

I downloaded and opened the examples to see how datatables works, and tried the column-reordering/state save. I used the unaltered filed downloaded from this site. The columns reordered perfectly, but upon page reload they returned to their original state. Same with sorting and paging. If I tried the examples from the site itself (sorting/paging only, I didn't see a column reorder state save) it works just fine. I used the current version of Google Chrome in all tests.

The example page I was using is in the 'extras' folder, named 'ColReorder example with state saving'. This exact functionality is precisely what I need for a project I'm working on, so if anyone can provide insight as to why it isn't working, please do!
