Syntax for setting Editor.table value to nested datatable field

I have an editor instance created with a nested datatable field and want to set the 'table' option of the editor used to edit this datatable field. What would be the correct syntax to do this? Can I set the 'table' option after the nested datatable has been created?
Typically it's "table: '#table'", but my table is in an editor form.
