How to change the background color of the page number (currently back (see enclosed screenshot), I want to change it to transparent)

Looks like you already have some custom styling for the button. Right click and use inspect to see what is currently being applied to the element. Then create a CSS to override what is there. If you need help with this the post a link to your page or a test case replicating the styling so we can see what you have to offer specific suggestions.
