Using DataTables / Ajax / Ruby on Rails / Data from JSON

Hello, I'm very new to datatables and found this grid to be very clean and useful. I saw an example posted at http://datatables.net/examples/data_sources/server_side.html, but this example is geared towards PHP. I use Ruby on Rails and was hoping to get an example on how to do this while using DataTables / Ajax / Ruby on Rails / Data from JSON.

There is a "gallery" of user contributed server-side scripts for DataTables: http://datatables.net/development/server-side

And indeed there is one for RoR: http://datatables.net/development/server-side/ruby_on_rails (points to a Github project).
