Showing new/updated record while using bStateSave

I'm using bStateSave for the typical reasons but I'm not sure how to show data changes while still using bStateSave. For example, a user is paging through a table of invoices, clicks on an icon to edit an invoice, gets sent to a secondary page where he makes the edits and eventually comes back to the table of invoices. bStateSave works like it should but how can I show the change while maintaining state?
