Changing row colors globally from default style sheet to personalized colors

I have recently installed DataTables and now need to customize the colors in the style sheet demo_table.css to match my own color scheme. The default for rows are shades of pale green, but my own colors are shades of beige (#FFEEAA). Is there an easy way, such as a mathematical formula or a utility, to let me find the right hexadecimal number for each of the new colors in turn, for example by subtracting the same value from each of the original colors? Or do I have to choose my own main color and then experiment with different shades until I am satisfied? Thanks in advance.
