ScrollX is enabled to for scrolling just a few pixels?

I have bScrollX enabled, but DataTables still fits most content into the table without using horizontal scrolling, and this default behavior is what I want. However, I'm noticing that quite often horizontal scrolling is turned on to fit just a few extra pixels into the table. IE, you can scroll horizontally, but only a few pixels either way, and none of the table content is ever scrolled out of view. In such cases all the content is visible without scrolling, so I'm wondering why scrolling is enabled and how I can possibly fix it.

This screenshot shows the problem: http://ScrnSht.com/cxonpg I've had to blur the content, but all the desired content fits within the given horizontal space, and scrolling shouldn't be needed. For some reason the last column is much wider than I think I should be.
